Join us for a free capacity-building opportunity for all bicultural health educators and community engagement workers in the Southern Metropolitan Region, hosted by WHISE and the Multicultural Health and Support Service (MHSS), as part of the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health (CEH)

The learning outcomes for participants are to:

  • Increase practitioners' knowledge of sexually transmissible infections and blood borne viruses, including prevention, transmission, symptoms, testing and treatment.
  • Increase practitioners' understanding of common reproductive health issues, including endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome and menopause.
  • Increase practitioners' knowledge of different types of contraception, including procurement, costs, efficacy and side-effects.
  • Increase practitioners' knowledge of options for unplanned pregnancy, including medical and surgical abortion procedures, costs and procurement processes.
  • Increase practitioners' knowledge of intersectionality and the linkages between gender and cultural diversity.
  • Increase practitioners' knowledge of the sexual and reproductive health issues affecting culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Australia.
  • Increase practitioners' confidence in discussing sexual and reproductive health with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  • Increase practitioners' confidence in supporting a someone from a culturally or linguistically diverse background to access health information or services.
