Hepatitis C Case Discussion for Primary Care – Webinar

The case discussion session will be designed to suit clinicians who treat patients with Hepatitis C or clinicians/primary care practitioners who are interested in increasing their knowledge of Hepatitis C treatments. Attendees are welcome to bring their own cases to the session for discussion.

This interactive case discussion session will be facilitated by:

Associate Professor Joe Sasadeusz

An Infectious Diseases Physician at the Hepatitis Clinic at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, with cross appointments at the Alfred Hospital and Melbourne Sexual Health Centre. A/Prof Sasadeusz is a medical virologist with a specific interest in viral hepatitis and is head of the Hepatitis Clinic at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and conducts HIV-hepatitis coinfection clinics at the Alfred Hospital and the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre. He has been involved in multiple clinical trials in viral hepatitis .   This session is undergoing RACGP/ACRRM accreditation.  

Learning outcomes

  • Know when to test for hepatitis C and how to interpret results
  • Develop appropriate treatment plans for complex cases
  • Develop an effective plan for ongoing monitoring including identifying appropriate treatment changes as necessary
  • Identify appropriate referral pathways for patients - who to contact and where to look for relevant information
  • Know how to monitor patients on direct acting antiviral treatment and assess if treatment has been curative
  • Increase understanding of the impact of stigma and discrimination on client outcomes
